Professional Learning Programs

Professional Learning Programs are oriented towards upskilling and enabling teachers to communicate the latest developments and emerging opportunities in STEM fields.

What are Professional Learning Programs?

As STEM subjects become increasingly important in secondary education curriculums, it is critical that teachers and educators are supported in delivering this education.

Our Professional Learning Programs are designed primarily for teachers, with some offerings that are suitable for parents or industry professionals.  We offer courses to keep teachers up to date with the latest developments, with programs oriented towards upskilling and enabling teachers to communicate emerging opportunities in STEM fields.

As educators, we all want to prepare our students to thrive in a complex future where rapid advances in technology and environmental challenges are changing the way we live and work.

Design thinking has already transformed global industries. It can also help effect professional practice change in your classrooms and school environments to meet these vital goals.

Design2Innovate: will support middle leaders and classroom teachers to become more confident in using design thinking in the classroom, school curriculum, and leadership practice.

Testing Business Ideas

BY DAVID J. BLAND AND ALEX OSTERWALDER

Audience: Leaders, Educators

Entrepreneurship in education can be difficult. With so much uncertainty and risk, progressing students from idea to business requires great tools that help create clarity – this leads to better decision-making and reduces the risk of failure.

We anticipate that this resource will be of great use in schools that build-in entrepreneurship subjects or opportunities for students to lead. As a resource it will help students reveal why an idea isn't ready, tune them to be more open to testing and feedback from potential users/customers/clients.

Value Proposition Design

BY ALEX OSTERWALDER, YVES PIGNER, GREG BERNARDA AND ALAN SMITH

Audience: Leaders, Educators

We love designing programs and we love delivering programs. Before we begin any project (such as creating a program), we take the time to identify if the puzzle pieces fit together. We aim to answer: Is it desirable? Is it feasible? Is it viable?

We look to this resource as a sense-check. Will the education system, our program designers, and program participants get value from a program? Do we have clear outcomes to aim for, the expertise available, and the energy to execute? How will we deliver our best work and ensure good decision-making along the way?

High-Impact Tools for Teams

BY STEFANO MASTOGIACOMO AND ALEX OSTERWALDER

Audience: Leaders

Our work is highly project-based. At a foundational level, we've undertaken project management short courses to support this work and use online project management systems to facilitate this work. More recently, we have focussed on improving our culture.

This resource provides some great tools for leaders and managers that create team alignment (roles and risks), improve communication (questioning, conflict management, requests), and generate trust (appreciation, respect).

The Design Thinking Toolbox

BY MICHAEL LEWRICK, PATRICK LINK AND LARRY LEIFER

Audience: Leaders, Educators, Senior Students

A companion resource to the Design Thinking Playbook, this book explains the expert mindsets that accompany the industry's most widely used design thinking tools.

We consider this publication to be well suited to education, as it invites teachers to select one or a few tools to quickly try out with their students without the expectation that they commit to the full design thinking process.
