Last Thursday, our Big Build Industry Immersion saw female students visit the Victorian Tunnelling Centre to discover career pathways in the building and construction industries.

With a focus on practical skills, students participated in activities led by Holmesglen Institute educators. The sessions introduced students to the importance of PPE, communication in an underground emergency, and safe construction site practices. Students got hands-on with simulated excavators and virtual reality fire extinguishers, discovering how equipment operation can look and feel.

An interactive panel with industry professionals working in the Big Build allowed students to understand how they could start their own careers in the industry. The day was lively and engaging, with students learning from various experts and discovering the range of STEM pathways possible in building and construction.

Thank you so much to our industry partners, Holmesglen Institute, Suburban Rail Loop Authority, Suburban Connect, Rail Academy, and Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority, for their work in delivering such a valuable learning experience for students.
