Cyberpowers Takes on Ballarat!

Last week, Monash Tech School in collaboration with the RMIT School of Science hosted students from Yarrabing Secondary College at Ballarat Tech School for Cyberpowers!

Cyberpowers endeavours to dispel fear, uncertainty, and doubt around cybersecurity practices and empowers students to take a proactive approach to password protection, scam identification, and safe social media usage. Tailored for female and gender diverse students, this industry immersion provides a safe environment for students to ask questions, collaborate with one another, and learn from industry experts.

Students engaged in activities that simulated real-world cybersecurity scenarios and explored various perspectives for managing security risks. Through this, students developed a suite of ‘superpowers’ – such as adaptability, ethical behaviour, and communication – that prioritise the humanitarian aspects of cybersecurity.

Students also had the opportunity to hear from industry leaders Professor Asha Rao, Dr Amy Beth Corman and Dr Tracy Tam, about their experiences and learn about careers and study pathways in the sector.

After the immersion, 100% of students agreed that the program made them want to explore new ideas, and 100% found the content of the program interesting and enjoyable!
