Last Tuesday, Redesign for Her saw students participate in a hackathon with the goal of designing solutions to the challenges faced by women and girls every day.

With the lens of Sustainable Development Goals, each group ideated, prototyped and pitched a solution to their assigned SDG that could benefit the women affected by the issue.

Students worked together to plan a solution to their problem, weighing up options and workshopping the many ways they could approach the issue. Through brainstorming, discussing and evaluating, groups decided on a solution and built a pitch to present to a panel of industry professionals.

Each group took a different approach, with pitches covering solutions such as apps, education programs, care packages, unions and more. Some groups put together LEGO models of their solutions, whilst others focused on visual presentations. Each pitch was unique, with students explaining their problem and solution in depth. The industry panels were very impressed by each presentation.

Monash University put together an incredible educational experience for students, and we are delighted to have supported them in the preparation and delivery of the day. Judith and Jemima even jumped on the judging panels to see the amazing work that the students had produced across the day, and help decide on the winning pitches.

Thank you so much to the students and teachers for their energy and enthusiasm throughout the session. The day was full of passion, excitement and fun.
